Methodologies

Our methodologies serve as the foundation for all emissions reduction calculations. They define the formulas, boundaries, and scope of each project, outlining key variables and data quality requirements that impact results. Only methodologies approved under the Ontoly Building Emissions Reduction Standard can be used to certify projects—ensuring consistency, accuracy, and transparency across every credit we issue.

We use real utility data from each building to ensure our calculations are accurate, credible, and verifiable.

“At Ontoly, we develop our methodologies with one goal in mind: ensuring that every emissions reduction we certify is real, additional, and backed by rigorous analysis. We’re committed to scientific integrity and practical solutions that drive measurable impact in the built environment.”

— Ashley Sarauer, Founder & CEO, Ontoly
